My Working Place / Mi puesto de trabajo

Many artists have a studio where they create. I don´t. I do my creations all over my apartment. More exactly, I paint on the floor of my living room, and sew on the table of my kitchen/dining room.

I would love it if the sewing machine could be in the living room so that I could watch TV while sewing, but for logistics reasons, it´s not possible at the moment. That is actually cool, cuz then I can focus solely on sewing :)

Here some pictures of my working place being used, and a bag I made a few weeks ago. This bag was actually a rehearsal before I saw THIS one.

Muchos artistas tienen un estudio u oficina donde crean su arte. Yo no. Mis creaciones las hago en diversos rincones de mi apartamento; más en concreto: pinto en el suelo de la sala y coso en la mesa de la cocina/comedor. Me hubiera encantado que la máquina de coser estuviera en la sala, para así poder coser y mirar TV al mismo tiempo, pero por razones de logística, eso no es posible por el momento, lo cual tampoco es tan malo, ya me permite concentrarme cuando estoy cosiendo.

A continuación tienen algunas fotos de mi ¨puesto de trabajo¨ cuando está siendo utilizado y de una cartera que hice varias semanas. Esta cartera es, de hecho, una prueba que hice antes de hacer ESTA cartera.

First Sale / Primera venta

Today is a very special because I sold my very first bag! I really loved the bag and when I made it the first thing I thought was ¨I wanna keep it for myself!¨ Hehe. A very good friend bought it from me today, a Cuban girl whom I just met this week at work and who is great as a person. I hope she enjoys the bag and I hope everyone stops her on the street and tells her how nice it looks on her. Though I dont think that will be happening much in Sweden. What do you guys think? Do you like it?

Hoy es un día muy especial porque vendí mi primer bolso! En verdad me encantó el bolso y lo primero que dije cuando lo terminé fue: ¨Lo quiero para mí!¨ jejeje. Me lo compró una chica cubana que conocí esta misma semana, pero a la que ya quiero muchísimo. Es muy buena y me ayudó muchísimo en el trabajo. Espero que disfrute mucho el bolso y que la gente la pare en la calle y le diga qué lindo le queda! Aunque no creo que eso pase en Suecia, jaja. Ustedes qué creen? Les gusta?

This was actually my first tote. I saw and handpainted it for my friend Paola as a birthday gift. She has encouraged and helped me a LOT during my sewing adventures. We will meet this Thursday. Maybe I will share a pic of hers if she agrees! :)

Este fue el primer bolso que hice. Es pintado a mano, y fue mi regalo de cumpleannos para mi amiga Paola, quien ha sido fuente de inspiración en mis aventuras con el hilo y la aguja. Este jueves la veré y, si ella se deja, quizás ponga una foto suya aquí en mi blog :)

Stripes / Listas

So here is the bag I did yesterday. It took me almost the whole day, but it was worthy. The bag is great. A lot of space, gorgeous earthy colors, sturdy...  It goes well with sober colors, such as white, beige, gray, brown... You get it. t´s fully lined and has 3 interior pockets. Later I will show more pics of the bag itself. But for now, what do u think about it?

Aquí está la cartera o bolso que hice ayer! Me llevó casi todo el día hacerla, pero la verdad que valió la pena! La cartera me encanta. Tiene cantidad de espacio, colores que recuerdan a la naturaleza, es resistente. Pega con colores sobrios como blanco, beige, marrón... Tiene forro y 3 bolsillos interiores. Más tarde pondré fotos de la cartera como tal, pero por ahora dime qué te parece. :)

Tote Bag

Second bow tie /Segundo lacito

So bow ties seem very easy to make (they probably are) but I have been making these entirely by hand (no sewing machine), so it has taken me a long time to do them, because I´m very perfectionist and I do lost of stiching and secure the seem so that it doesn´t fray, etc. Anyways, this one is in a kind of velvet fabric, and it was a coincidence that Mats had a cardigan in the exact same color! Doesn´t he look great? :)

Estos lacitos parecen muy fáciles de hacer, y quizás lo sean, pero hasta el momento los he hecho completamente a mano, ya que no tengo una máquina de coser. Por eso me toma un buen tiempo hacerlos, ya que soy bien perfeccionista y doy puntadas hasta por gusto. Los coso dobles para asegurar que no se desflequen, etc... De todas formas, este lacito es de una tela como gamuza, y fue una gran coincidencia que Mats tuviera un abrigo del mismísimo color que el lacito. Y, seamos sinceras/os: No se ve bien lindo? :)

Bows are the shyt! They are great and can be worn by both guys and girls (men and women too!). The only requirement: it must be UNIQUE people. Think about it: NOT everyone can pull off a bow. If you are one of the few privileged who can, then wear it around the neck or on your head, and leave a link with your pic! The ultimate accessory. And this is the first I have ever made :)

Los lacitos (pajaritas) son lo máximo! Lo pueden usar tanto hombres como mujeres, chicos y chicas. El único requisito es ser ESPECIAL. Si se fijan bien, NO todo el mundo puede lucir bien con un lacito. Si eres uno de los pocos privilegiados que sí, llévalo en tu cuello o en la cabeza y deja un link con tu foto en los comentarios! Es el accesorio perfecto, y este que ven en las fotos es el primero que he hecho en mi vida :)
